A lot of companies participate in activities to give back to their local communities this time of year. Employees volunteer at a soup kitchen, lead a Toys for Tots drive or sponsor a family for Christmas. I support all of these activities, and participate in them, but also wonder why more companies don’t think about giving back through their employees’ talents. The default is always to volunteer time (usually doing simple activities that don’t require expertise or training) or donate money.

Why not contribute talents? That’s just as impactful, if not more so.

Kevin York Communications has decided to do that. Our goal is to contribute our marketing expertise and experience to one not-for-profit organization in 2016.

Pro bono marketing for nonprofits
Pro bono marketing for nonprofits

In the past, we’ve taken on nonprofits as pro bono clients and helped them on an ongoing basis with whatever marketing activities arose. Pitching a story here, designing a flyer there. However, we realized that such an ad hoc approach didn't garner the results or lasting relationships that both sides originally intended to develop.

Beginning in 2016, we are partnering with one not-for-profit organization to see a specific project through from start to finish. We strongly believe we can make a significant impact by focusing our energy and efforts with one beneficiary partner.

With that, we invite interested organizations to apply by sending us an email. Tell us more about your organization, your goals, and the marketing project you'd like our counsel and advice on.

A project can take any shape or form: from an announcement, a redesign of an annual report, email communications to your volunteer base, creative marketing ideas for sustained fundraising, or a social media program at any given length for up to one calendar year.

Please have applications in to us by December 21 and we will announce our decision in early January. And if you know of friends, family, and colleagues in the nonprofit space, we strongly encourage you to share this news with them.

Thank you for your consideration and happy holidays!
